Sunday Meditation

“The thinking man must oppose all cruel customs
no matter how deeply rooted in tradition
or surrounded by a halo... We need a boundless ethic
which will include the animals also.”

Calling all animal lovers!

Let's help end the largest and most
pervasive form of animal abuse
remaining in America - factory farming.

It's not fun to think about,
but it's important to understand that factory farms
dominate food production in our country today.
These horrific mega factories
employ systematically abusive practices
that maximize agribusiness profits
at the expense of
not to mention
the environment
our communities,
and even our health

It's frustrating. But here's an easy way to
help do something to stop it.

urges the administration to support policy and legislation
protecting animals,
the earth,
and citizens
from factory farming’s harmful effects.

Kathy Freston's Daily Lean

I adore Kathy Freston
She is a New York Times best-selling author
with a concentration on healthy living
and conscious eating.
She is beautiful inside and out
and has become an inspiration to me.

She just started The Daily Lean, a
daily bite-size nugget of helpful
information for all of you out there
trying to live healthier, more
compassionate lives.

I love the concept of "leaning into" change.
Nothing harsh. No judgment.
Just a gentle focus on improving.
Gotta love that!

Enjoy!

Retro gold shoes

I just saw these shoes on Beyond Skin and thought
they were so fun!
I can imagine wearing them with so many things...
white skinny jeans and a white shirt
white skinny jeans and a bright green top
dark denim skinny jeans and a white top
dark denim wide leg jeans and a white tank
I could go on...
I always have fun imagining new outfits.
You can do so much with
the basics and a
fun pair of shoes.

The good news is that
animals never have to
suffer to satisfy your
fashion fix - there
are so many non-leather
options out there now!

Sunday Meditation

“If all the beasts were gone,
men would die from a great loneliness of spirit,
for whatever happens to the beasts also happens to the man.
All things are connected.
Whatever befalls the Earth
befalls the sons of the Earth.”

-Chief Seattle of the Suquamish Tribe,
letter to President Franklin Pierce

Spring Blooms

I seem to have a lot of flowers in my
house right now. Which I love!
So I thought I'd share some vignettes
before these lovelies fade away.

Easter EggNots

Dying eggs is a tradition many of us grew up with at Easter.
I remember loving it as a kid. It was a fun way to
let some creative energy fly!

The problem today as that most eggs come from hens living in
unnatural (best) or inhumane (worst) conditions. Because of
poor regulations even those eggs marked "cage free", "natural",
and "organic" are most likely not eggs from healthy, happy hens.

Who wants to celebrate Easter by perpetuating cruelty to animals?
Ew. Not me. And I'm guessing not you either.
So - here's a great alternative - EggNots - a dyeable ceramic egg!
What an amazing idea!

They look and feel just like a real egg, but they are
non-perishable and vegan/eco-friendly.
Ready to dye any color your creative little heart desires.

Easter bunny approved!
